Frequently asked questions

The amount of times we need to catch up will very much depend on you as an individual. Some people are just looking for a health overhaul and some guidance on how best to optimise their nutrition, others may have more complex cases that require ongoing long term support. I generally recommend that you plan for 3 consecutive consultations every 4 weeks (so your initial and two follow ups) in order to get into a routine with your initial recommendations. Following this we may be able to spread your follow ups out a little and catch up for a short appointment time.

I have a few different consultation options available so I always suggest booking in for a free discovery call before you book anything in. Here is a run down of some of my packages you might want to consider if you are looking for support with a specific area of health:

Preconception to Fertility Package is for couples who are looking to be supported through the full preconception period and is perfect for providing comprehensive support for unexplained infertility, recurrent miscarriage, IVF prep, complex fertility issues. For all couples trying to conceive I recommend that both partners are included in the process for best results. This package includes all the support you and your partner will need throughout the optimal 16 week preconception period. If you conceive during this time you can use any remaining consultations to support you through early pregnancy.

Fertility MOT is for couples looking for initial preconception support for future planned pregnancies and guidance on nutrition and lifestyle to optimise fertility. If you have complex reproductive health issues I advise opting for the Preconception to Fertility package.

Prenatal and Postpartum Package is for pregnant women wanting support with nutritional guidance throughout pregnancy and postpartum. This package is perfect for women with high risk pregnancies, diabetes, common pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness, support for nutrient deficiencies and general health support throughout pregnancy. Most of the women I work with to help conceive will move onto this package once they have a confirmed pregnancy. This package includes 6 hours of consultations allocated to major pregnancy milestones and spans across a 12 month period.

All clinical tests are charged in addition to the consultation price. If you have recent test results from fertility clinics or your GP I am happy for you to share these with me and I will include them as part of your health assessment. There may be circumstances where we need to investigate further and potentially add to this with private functional tests in order to get the best outcome within the quickest possible timeframe. I will always discuss the cost and benefits with you in detail and will only recommend a test if I know that the outcome is going to influence my approach. For more details on specific tests available please check the clinical test section on the Work with me page.

Depending on the type of test some can be done at home with home testing kits and others will need to be done in a clinic setting. I work with partner clinics across London and the UK and will provide you with all the information and guidance you need to complete any tests.

Testing is not always required, it really depends on the complexity of your individual case and your desired outcomes. When it comes to fertility health there are particular tests that are helpful, but we will always discuss this as part of your discovery call.

I recommend giving yourself 4 months to prep for pregnancy and to improve fertility health as it takes 100 days for an egg to mature and up to 90 days for sperm production. Anything that you do during this time to support your overall health through nutrition and lifestyle will greatly benefit the quality of these cells and have a positive impact on pregnancy outcomes.

4 months also allows enough time to perform any required tests and implement recommendations to address findings. We will also have to retest on occasion to ensure that issues have resolved. Sometimes you may need more that 4 months depending on the complexity of your case, however my 16 week preconception to fertility package will cover all the support you need during the most crucial time and there is some flexibility should we need to delay catch ups in line with test results.

Nutrition and lifestyle have been shown to have a major impact on IVF/ART outcomes, particularly within the 4 month preconception period. Where IVF may help to overcome some fertility challenges, the procedure is not able to improve the quality of the eggs and sperm collected. This is where focussing on nutrition and lifestyle can be very beneficial and ideally you need a minimum of 3 months (or 4 menstrual cycles) as this is the timeframe required to optimise the chromosomal development within these maturing cells. Fertility nutrition also focuses on assessing reproductive microbiome health, hormonal balance and nutrient status with an aim of improving the chances of embryo implantation and a healthy full term pregnancy.

My Preconception to Fertility package is ideal for couples planning an IVF cycle. This includes couples who have undergone multiple rounds of IVF already and also egg and sperm donor cycles. This package spans over 16 weeks as this is generally the minimum time we need for optimal outcomes. If you don’t have 16 weeks but would like to work with with me in the lead up to IVF there may be limitations as to the benefits for improving egg/sperm quality, however there may still be some benefits to working on your health i.e addressing nutrient levels and reproductive microbiome health, the best thing to do is book a free discovery call and we can discuss this in more detail.

Yes I do work with men to support with general wellbeing, fatigue, hormonal imbalance, gut microbiome and skin health. Whilst most of my male clients work with me as part of a couple for fertility support its worth baring in mind that the areas of health that lead to male factor infertility are often not directly associated with what you would consider to be common reproductive health issues. It’s about understanding the underlying driving factors to systemic inflammation and this can result from a number of health concerns like cardiovascular health, stress and infections for example.
